Birth Story Processing
Share a cup of tea and talk to a midwife about your birth.
Service Description
A birth story processing visit is a supportive session designed to help parents reflect on their childbirth experience in a safe, non-judgmental space. It allows them to share their story, explore emotions, and heal from unexpected or challenging aspects. Key Features: Active Listening: Parents share their birth story while the practitioner provides compassionate, focused attention. Emotional Validation: All emotions—joy, grief, pride, or disappointment—are acknowledged and normalized without judgment. Health Record Review: Parents can review their health records with a certified nurse midwife to better understand medical events or interventions. Processing Challenges: Unexpected outcomes or traumatic moments are explored to address lingering emotions such as fear or guilt. Reflection and Meaning-Making: Parents identify lessons, strengths, and insights to integrate their experience into their parenting journey. Closure and Empowerment: Through supportive dialogue or tools like journaling, parents find closure, recognize their resilience, and reframe challenging moments. Who Benefits: This visit is ideal for parents processing a difficult or unexpected birth, seeking clarity about medical events, or wanting to honor their story meaningfully. The goal is to help parents feel heard, empowered, and at peace, gaining understanding and healing from their unique birth experience.
