About the event

Welcome in the New Year by reconnecting to yourself through the quietude and support of restorative yoga.  Learn how to optimally support your body with props to facilitate opening and restoration of the nervous system . Yoga Teacher and Pelvic Health PT,  Dr. Charisse Balance, DPT, RYT will guiding you through your journey towards rest.

The KAZ Project New Parent Speaker Series at Golden Gate Doula Associates is the first step in our revolution. Parenting can be so isolating and mind numbing. No longer do parents need to sacrifice their own thoughts and time to take their babies to classes they will never remember. It is time that the focus during postpartum is on the parents, not just the baby.  The KAZ Project New Parent Speaker Series will bring speakers from a variety of backgrounds.  Each week we will bring topics meant to inspire, educate or simply entertain.  Parents can bring their baby with them or join virtually, allowing personal growth and raising your child to not be mutually exclusive.

Join us each Wednesday at 10am and find out what it feels like to have independent thoughts not related to your baby.

Featured Speaker for 1/4/23:

Dr. Charisse Balance, PT, DPT, RYT blends  her experience as a Physical Therapist, Yoga Teacher and Mother to  inform her practice. Fascinated with the human body, she obtained her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2009. Personally experiencing yoga's ability to heal the mind and body, she deepened her practice and completed her yoga teacher training in 2015. As PT serving individuals with chronic pain,  she chose to  pursue deeper studies  in Restorative  and Yin Yoga . In preparation for motherhood and as a pelvic health PT, she  completed her prenatal yoga certification- with the hopes of facilitating ease with pregnancy and birth in herself and her cleints. Charisse has since  offered workshops and taught in various Yoga Teacher Training programs in the Bay Area . By creating  the anatomy, physiology prenatal and restorative yoga curriculum at in these programs, she has found  joy in empowering her students and future teachers with anatomical knowledge about their bodies to facilitate ahimsa- non harming- in practice. She teaches an embodied practice, bringing attention to healthy and healing anatomical alignment for all bodies. By doing so she hopes to invite individuals to focus the mind, allowing one to connect to the Self and in turn, feel better.
