Topic for 1/18/23:  Animal Symbology

Join us as we explore animal symbology through the practice of creating art.  Participants are encouraged to follow simple directions to create a featured animal.  While they are moving their pencils on the paper, Rev. Butyne will discuss the symbology of this animal through out a variety of traditions.  Weaving together a story in which each person can find meaning and themes that speak to the workings of their own life. Art helps our emotional and spiritual body speak when words feel inadequate. Symbols bind us to a universal language of humanity’s struggle. Together these form Bridges to Empowerments’ Healing Arts Project: using art, mythology, story, prayer, and meditation as a spiritual practice.

Creating art is not just for artists, it is for anybody who wants to express themselves, reduce stress, and connect to their own spirituality. Learn how art can become a spiritual practice that gives you the tools for a more empowered future. You can do these classes with simply a pencil and paper or whatever paints/pens you have. No artistic experience or talent needed. Just like life, when you are faced with a challenge, the more you break it down into small manageable parts, the easier it becomes to accomplish something amazing. This class is about using art to access your spirituality, process life, reduce stress, and learn empowerment skills and practices.

Featured Speaker for 1/18/23: Rev. Lynsie Mae Butyne

Rev. Lynsie is the author of the upcoming book Blooming out of the Rough that uses her personal experiences in creating art and the study of symbols to empower her healing process through close encounters with death. Through this work, Blooming out of the Rough offers a blueprint to restoring balance and offering tools for dealing with stress and crisis for those facing illness or other life changes. Lynsie also practices integrative ministry by helping each individual to formulate an individualized plan to support their best physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

The KAZ Project New Parent Speaker Series at Golden Gate Doula Associates is the first step in our revolution. Parenting can be so isolating and mind numbing. No longer do parents need to sacrifice their own thoughts and time to take their babies to classes they will never remember. It is time that the focus during postpartum is on the parents, not just the baby.  The KAZ Project New Parent Speaker Series will bring speakers from a variety of backgrounds.  Each week we will bring topics meant to inspire, educate or simply entertain.  Parents can bring their baby with them or join virtually, allowing personal growth and raising your child to not be mutually exclusive.

Join us each Wednesday at 10am and find out what it feels like to have independent thoughts not related to your baby.
